How did you attract/address your audience?
Take a screen grab of your magazines cover, content and spread and place into iMovie, movie maker etc. You will then use YOUTUBE's annotation tools to add NOTES, SPEECHBUBBLES, and LINKS to your magazine:
The audience I chose ranged between older teenagers up until young adults those that are studying, at uni or just trying to make there way in the world, the way my magazine has been created is sure to attract them into buying it. My magazine is aimed at both a male and female audience I have made sure this is the case by featuring male and female bands in my magazine. The bands and artists that have been used in my magazine are all within the age range of my target audience which makes it easier for the reader to relate themselves too which will attract them into buying my magazine. I made the artist relatable to the audience by the way they look their hairstyles the poses they are pulling and the clothes they are wearing. the writing on my double page spread was written to feature experiences that may be similar to the ones in which my target audience have had or wish to have. My cover line featured in the contents page features more male than female artist as it features one male band one solo male artist and only one female duet but this isn't really an issue as many of my target audience especially the female reader would find the artists featured atheistically pleasing yet different which is exactly what I am trying to portray in my Indie music magazine as my target audience is Indie Scenesters. All the Artists featured originate from within the UK which obviously limits the range in which my auidence can possibly be but this is how I intended it to start out, if my magazine became bigger then foreign artist would be featured as I would be aiming to expand my audience across the world. Although by using artists that all originate within the UK it will attract the interest of the reader as they will be more interested in what is happening in this country music wise than others along with the fact that by including all british acts then there is more chance of them doing concerts tours and gigs which will instantly attract the audience into buying my Indie music magazine.
The photography featured in the double page spread will appeal to the audience as then photos tend to be out there and edgy especially the photos that cover the Claptons as ear biting and odd hand gestures will appeal to the Indie Scencesters out there as some of my Indie scencesters friends were highly amused by the photos that were presented in the magazine. The mast head of the Claptons was chosen as it would appeal and attract the audience as a lot of Indie bands have their names in obscure of odd looking fonts with strange layouts, so by doing this I thought it would fit in with the intended design and style. The fact that I presented my magazine as a music and fashion magazine advetising vintage clothing will appeal hugely to Indie Scencesters as these are two of things that these scencesters are interested in combined into one magazine.

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my magazine would be somebody like Ellis Shelton he is an 18 year old male who is known for his individuality as well his pretntious music taste. He is currently studying his A levels and is hoping to move onto uni. he likes spending time with his friends going on wild night out and he also likes to go and see artists and bands that haven't hit the mainstream route to success yet and is the perfect example of an Indie Scencester, his Ideal gig would be at a small venue with only a few hundred people listening to upbeat accustic music. Every year Ellis goes to a music festival without fail sometimes even more than 1 this year he is going to Leeds he is the type of guy who will spend his whole weekend in a small tent or arena and stay well away from the main stage listening to the future in music talent and the alternative bands. He is particularly looking forward to seeing Peace this year even though there on the main stage as he has followed the alternative indie band since 2010 and cannot wait for the atmosphere.
Ellis also has a big passion for fashion and likes to pick up some out there offers at charity and vintage shops as he believes this enables him to stick to a budget and look good as he believes this is essential. A lot of the music ellis listens to on his modern day vinly player or his iPod classic contains relatively unheard of music that he has spent hours on the internet searching for on youtube and sound cloud some are even unsigned bands ellis will not stop until he finds a new band or artist to listen to he prides himself on his taste in music.

Evaluation activity 1
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of music magazines)
During my research I examined many highly recommended magazines that are designed and made by renowned creators journalists and designers who have great expertise in these fields. I have studied the most used conventions in the magazines to try and discover and gain in depth knowledge into how professional magazines used these conventions to promote and create an aesthetically pleasing magazine that would be deemed to be pleasing to the destined target audience. After intensive research into the conventions I came to a conclusion that the most common magazine layouts are in fact the "Z" and "F"
format the main best selling music magazines all tend to follow the same layouts week in week out an example of this would be NME who use the "F" format on the majority of there published front covers. The F format is a very popular format because it allows cover lines to run down the left side of the front cover and enables the magazine designer to make everything symmetrical i.e. the distance from the font to the border in a easier way.
The front cover I have adopted is based on the free newspaper music magazine Loud and Quiet This provided me with lots of inspiration for my magazine as it displayed lots of magazine conventions. The main example of this would be the use of white symmetrical gaps that Loud and quiet have adapted or made their on twist on. The magazine creator Christophe Brunnquell is seen to be responsible for changing the face and content of many modern day magazines as his work was based on the use of white spaces, and symmetry. Although Loud and Quiet is a free newspaper magazine It inspired me to change it and adapt it into a paid simplistic high end magazine of my own.
The intensive research I did into several different magazines resorted in me adapting many magazine conventions the main magazines I focused on was NME, Loud and Quiet , CLASH as these are the magazines I taken a personal interest into and I found it easier to adapt and use the conventions from. For my contents there wasn't one magazine In particular I used and my research for conventions lead me to look at magazines that are not well known to the mass public and are more for the particular reader rather than the mass market an example of this would be dapper Dan. I loved the simplistic plain conventions he used along with the bold font. I decided that I didn't want my magazine to be completely plain this is why I adapted the style but know the complete contents as the convention that I really wanted to adapt from the Dapper Dan magazine was the way in which the titles of the extracts from the magazine were displayed as this fit in perfectly with the magazine I created. Another convention that my magazine used to adapt was the title of the contents page of MNE I developed this convention as I rather liked the fact that NME didn't call there contents page "contents page" I thought that the fact they used "Inside this week" was great because its not like the normal boring regular magazine and it also helps to establish the fact that it is a contents page, so by me using this in my magazine with a slightly different bolder font enabled me to make my contents page stand out.
For my double page spread the photography that I took of the band as Individuals was taken by adapting the famous conventions of photographer Martin Schoeller who is distinguished for his close up photos of just the face and shoulder the photographer who is famous around the world and based in LA was a definite for me to try and mirror image as I do like the work he has done and his conventions through photography. In comparison the photograph of the band together has been adapted from the conventions of the famous photographer Terry Richardson as he is known for his rather out there photos with famous celebrities in rather strange poses but the way I have adapted his convention is that I have used a close up Image of my band The Claptons doing a strange pose rather than a long shot that Terry Richardson commonly does. The text layout relating to the columns and placement of text came from a convention of Karrang which listed its interviews in 3 columns with the questions being of a different colour to the answers, although I am aware that karrang isn't really an indie magazine I decided to adapt this convention as I believed it would provide me with a clear layout for my indie magazine. By looking at other magazines that fit in with my target audience of Indie Scencesters I was able to develop an original looking magazine with developed conventions from many other magazines.
